The University of the Immaculate Conception, formerly known as Immaculate Conception College, first offered Medical Technology in June of 1961. The Medical Technology Program was given government recognition number 264 as a four-year Technical Technology course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology effective July 3, 1961. This was granted by the Department of Education as per approval of the then Secretary of Health Carlos P. Romulo. The Medical Technology Program of ICC was able to produce their first batch of graduates in March of 1965. The Medical Technology program was one of the three programs that was formally accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).

At present, the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology of the University of the Immaculate Conception has already produced 54 batches of Medical Technology graduates holistically equipped with theory and technical expertise to serve the public.

In the Academic year 2005-2006, the Medical Technology Program has been changed to Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science (MT / MLS). The curriculum has been revised pursuant to the Commission on Higher Education guidelines by adding important subjects such as Pharmacology and Genetics in the higher level; professional subjects are expanded as well.

In 2014, the MT / MLS Program ranked top 1 school performance for the licensure examination and over the years, the program maintained to be included in the top 10 performing schools in the Philippines with ratings above the national level. In these years, the Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science Program produced top-notchers in the licensure examination.

In 2017, the Commission on Higher Education released the Policies, Standards and Guidelines for Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science (BSMT/BSMLS) Program that staged the revision of the curriculum in pursuance of an outcomes-based quality assurance system. The revised curriculum entailed the addition of comprehensive introduction to the Medical Laboratory Science Practice, Molecular Biology and Diagnostics, and expanded Internship to one year exposure to improve the academic performance of the students enrolled in the MLS program and to set a standard that is attuned with the global market.

In 2018, the program forged collaboration with Management and Science University, with the goal of guaranteeing global competency and adhering to the mission of providing high-quality education and academic internationalization. This linkage allowed internship exposures abroad. In the same year, the MT / MLS Program was granted PAASCU Level II status which guarantees that the university assures delivery of highest quality of education in areas of program of studies, faculty competencies, instructional standards, operational systems, facilities, and financial and human resources. The university's Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science Program is one of the very few institutions in entire Mindanao granted Level II accreditation status.

Currently, the University is one of just a handful universities in the world to be ISO certified. As a result, MT / MLS continually strives to maintaining high-quality catholic education that is relevant to the demands of the time in shaping future medical laboratory scientists who are catalysts for nurturing faith, building passion for excellence, and developing lifelong learners with compassion for service that impacts transformation in a rapidly changing society.

In a globalized environment, the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) takes on the task of leading in Health Science and Technology.
